The Galician Government (Xunta de Galicia) tenders two studies on infrastructures in the Euroregion, within the framework of the 'Cologistics' project.
This Thursday, the Regional Ministry of Infrastructure and Mobility confirmed the tender for two studies on infrastructure in the Galicia-North Portugal Euro-region, within the framework of the 'Cologistics' project, promoted by the Pontevedra Business Confederation (CEP).
This was announced by the Regional Minister, Ethel Vázquez, after a meeting with the President of Pontevedra's employers' association, Jorge Cebreiros, and she specified that the two studies would be put out to tender for a total of 178,000 euros and that the deadline for submitting bids was 11 December.
One of the studies (which is bidding for 64,000 euros) must deal with the viability of building a car park for dangerous goods transport vehicles) and the other (114,000 euros) will focus on the priority needs for infrastructure and connections in the Euroregion.
It is precisely with regard to these priorities that the Regional Minister has once again insisted that, after correcting the "historic mistake" of leaving Galicia outside the Atlantic Corridor, progress must now be made with improvements to the freight networks.
For this reason, she reiterated the need to undertake "essential" actions, such as the southern railway exit from Vigo, taking advantage of European funds for reconstruction, and regretted that the Spanish government intends to "re-study what has already been studied" and continue to delay this infrastructure.
The Regional Minister also insisted on expressing her "concern" about the "drainage" of resources towards the Mediterranean Corridor. "There must be a balanced approach", she stressed.
The 'Cologistics' project, which is being promoted by the CEP with the support of the Xunta and various organisations, has been allocated 2.2 million euros in European funds, and aims to strengthen economic and business competitiveness in the Euroregion.
