Port of Leixões tests Artificial Artificial Intelligence software AllRead
APDL - Administration of the Ports of Douro, Leixões and Viana do Castelo, S.A., in partnership with ALLREAD Machine Learning Technologies, a startup specialized in computer vision software, an initiative of the Computer Vision Centre of Catalonia (Autonomous University of Barcelona) and The Collider programme (Mobile World Capital Barcelona), has successfully tested, at the Port of Leixões, an artificial intelligence software.
From a collaboration in pilot mode, the Port of Leixões installed the software of AllRead, to perform the reading of BIC containers and tank containers, which circulate through the different accesses of the port area, to process images and videos with text and codes, and extract only the desired information, providing readings with up to 90% accuracy and with real-time integrations to their systems.
All this traceability was possible using just one camera installed at each access, thus avoiding the high costs of hardware and implementation that other traditional OCR (Optical Character Recognition) solutions require. Besides obtaining superior metrics to other solutions, with little use of hardware, with the AllRead reading solution, APDL has the possibility of bringing a fast and non CAPEX intensive reading solution to other accesses of the Port of Leixões.
APDL and AllRead MLT will also collaborate on a setup project for 5 additional accesses in the Port of Leixões, which will allow the traceability of vehicle, container and train plates, in places that were not possible until now, in order to streamline and dematerialise processes and, consequently, improve the speed and efficiency of port operations and logistics flows as a whole.
